The following guide covers how to create a project in our A365 workspace and the conventions we use to add parts to our schematic libraries.

First, ensure you are connected to the UW Orbital workspace in A365 by looking in the top right corner. If you do not have access, please contact a lead and they will add you. In the meantime, you can create a local project but be sure to upload it to the workspace when you get access.

In the “Projects” panel on the left, right-click “UW Orbital” and click “Create Project” to create a project in our A365 workspace. Make sure that is it not a local project under “Project Group XX”.

Give your project a name, and you can specify a subfolder under the “Advanced” panel in “Folder”, In this case, the subfolder is “DCDC” and the project name is “DCDC_Rev2”.

Right-click your project in the sidebar and create a new “Schematic”, “PCB”, “Schematic Library”, and “PCB Library”. You can save these in the default location. Click “Save to Server” afterwards.

Adding Parts to the Schematic Library

This guide will be specific to Digikey because it is our most used supplier and it has low shipping and product costs ($8 vs $20 shipping from mouser). Side note, please do take into account cost when selecting components. Our budget is not infinite and saving even $5 a board across over a hundred boards makes a difference. I usually sort by cost and find the cheapest component that meets the specs I’m looking for. If it's your first or second revision, you probably don’t need the highest quality components out there.

Before adding a new part, you can do a quick search of our current library to see if we already have the part you need.

Open up your schematic library by double-clicking it under your project → Libraries → Schematic Library or click on the already open library in the top navigator.

Navigate to the Manufacturer Part Search Window on the left. You may need to use the “Panels” button to reveal it. Paste the manufacturer part number (MPN) of the part you are looking for in the search bar, and select the appropriate result.

Right-click the part and click “Import into XX as XX”. The part should now be added to your library and be seen in the “SCH Library” window.
