Phases overview

Phase 1: General direction orientation

On some cue, the satellite orients itself in the general direction of a ground station. The purpose of this is so that when a ground station starts tracking the satellite in Phase 2 with a beacon, the satellite should be able to receive it.

Clarification questions:

  1. How will the satellite decide when to orient towards the ground?
  2. Required accuracy of this general direction orientation?

Phase 2: Ground station tracking

A ground station tracks the satellite, and accurately aims a beacon at it

Clarification questions:

  1. What will be our ground station?

Phase 3: Data transmission

Once the satellite receives the beacon, it continuously orients its transmission signal to match the incidence of the beacon angle (to send data back)

Clarification questions:

  1. Transmission time requirements
  2. Accuracy requirements
