The ADCS ‣ page offers shortlists of possible components that meet ADCS requirements and that the sub-team may want to use to accomplish its goals.
- [x] Reaction Wheels x4:
Note: reaction wheels are very expensive, so for the 1st iteration of the PCB board, look into sourcing “mock” reaction wheels of similar size and power requirements as the space-grade reaction wheels that would be sourced for the 2nd iteration. One possibility is looking into servo motors as “mock” reaction wheels
- [ ] Sun Sensors x3
Note: sun sensors may not need to be included on the ADCS PCB board. They may be implemented, instead, on the satellite’s solar panels.
- [x] IMUs x1
- [x] Gyroscopes x3
- [x] Magnetometers x3
- $7.22: MLX90395KGO-BBA-101-SP
- Hall Effect sensing
- Responds to perpendicular fields
- $6.54: MMC5983MA
- Magnetoresistive sensor
- More sensitive
- Omni polar
- Responds to parallel fields
- Good at unipolar sensing for precision, non contact of displacement applications
- 18 bit operation ← idk if this is an issue since most are usually 16 bit operation
Note: the IMU, gyroscopes, and magnetometers may be found in an all-in-one component. If possible, source this component.
