Executive Summary

• This paper is intended to analyze and distill available sources on the subject of incident solar radiation on a 3U CubeSat in LEO, to enable clear understanding of factors that influence solar radiation and how it impacts the thermal design of the CubeSat.

Introduction

• 3 components of radiation: direct, reflected, and diffuse

• Initial assumptions are that the orbit is circular, equatorial, and takes place at winter (highest Earth-Sun radiation)

• Assumes that Earth’s albedo is uniform across the surface and equal to 0.3

• Provides background information on not well known ideas/topics. Helpful to give definitions and simple explanations

• Provides an outline on the body of the paper
