Co-op Meeting Weekly Check-in (July 4 🇺🇸)

Last Week

Motor has been repicked/constraints are all being met

- One final look for all specs for motor + motor driver before ordering
- Still have to hash out what voltage we are operating motors at/at what voltage we’re getting our required torque output and speed (do we need voltage regulation from power rails?) → Will probably need to run some calculations for this (https://www.faulhaber.com/en/drive-calculator/fdc/)
Got started on firmware for motor control
- HalCoGen and TI resources in general are 💩. Are there any better resources out there?
- Figured out how to generate PWM signals, but cant test because of the error message when trying to load software
- Will be reviewing the code written so far
  - Currently being written locally on VS Code, should probably get it on the Orbital GitHub
VN-100 Testing + Connections
- Testing is coming along well (VectorNav has better resources than TI no cap)
  - VN-100 intial readings
- Figuring out how to make the connection between ADCS board and OBC
  - Have a rough idea, but the cables are organized in a strange way
- This adds a couple more components we need to select (rs-232 female port and usb female port), which shouldn’t take too long (hopefully)

- [x] @Joel Lee to write up a quick doc on why he selected the motor
- [x] Find USB and serial connectors for VN-100 cable
[ ] Finalize Schematic & get a good chunk of the PCB Layout done
- [ ] Start looking into PCB design specifically for motor control (Not sure if its as niche as RF design, but still)
- [ ] @Saksham Ahuja to review schematics and PCB layout whenever its ready
[ ] VN-100 next steps:
- [ ] Establish connection between VN-100 and RM46 MCU (not even sure if this is possible since the RM46 development boards dont have serial or USB ports, so we cant really connect to anything)
  - Might be possible to find a cheap breakout board, or maybe we already have one?
- [x] Further testing just with laptop connection (Other measurements to be read/understood)

- [ ] Continue with code for motors
  - [x] Test with Aryan July 4, 2022 to debug rm46 issues for the motor driver
- [x] Setup linux according to CDH’s OBC Firmware Development Workflow
  - Able to flash code to the RM46, suspect previous issues with errors are due to hardware issues with the previous dev board.
- [ ] Pushing your motor code onto a repo on the orbital github page
- [ ] Perhaps start on code to read/write registers for VN-100 (cant really test this code per-say, but can at least have a solid start for when we are able to)
