- The two main revenue streams are: UW funds (don’t miss a single proposal deadline!), and in-kind sponsorships. For reference, the total value of in-kind sponsorships (not including software, because those are always valued crazy high), was about $20K for Orbital in its first competition cycle. UW funds accounted for $30K in funds. The rest, including crowdfunding and external sponsorships, amounted to less than $5000.
- Have the technical leads handle in-kind sponsorships because they know what they need best
- Cultivate an in-kind first, scrappy startup attitude. Anything above $500, ask for an in-kind first before buying.
