Phase 1: Research and Development
Year 1 Spring to Year 1 Fall
- Identify hardware components required to accomplish competition goal
- Identify which components can be produced in-house and which would have to be sourced
- Determine necessary software algorithms to operate identified components
- Communicate with CDH and Comms teams to ensure proper programming languages, workflow, communication protocols etc.
- Organize PCB board layout
- How many PCB boards are going to be needed
- Which components will go on which PCB boards
- Identify components necessary for PCB board(s) to function
- Calculate environmental conditions and pointing budget
- Look into ADCS component & environment simulation methods
Phase 2: Implementation and Testing
Year 2 Winter to Year 2 Fall
- Source identified components and testing equipment
- Attempt to reach out to organizations for sponsorships for components where possible
- Manufacture in-house components and in-house testing equipment
- Develop and test algorithms
- Manufacture PCB board(s)
- Perform simulations on ADCS components and environments
Phase 3: Integration and Troubleshooting
Year 3 Winter to Year 3 Spring
- Support assembly of whole satellite
- Focused on the integration of ADCS-related components & PCB boards
- Integrate ADCS algorithms into team-wide software architecture
- Compare results from simulations to hands-on testing
